This program aims to train highly qualified graduates capable of conducting compositional research that enables them to develop original musical creations. They will learn to discursively articulate their work in theoretical and critical terms, while also strengthening their reflection on the unique nature of their compositional discourse and practice in relation to other models within the arts. Graduates will be prepared to actively participate in the national and international cultural scene, generating creative and research proposals in both the public and private sectors.

  • Synthesis of musical traditions from the West, Latin America, native peoples and their aesthetic reflection.

Plan de estudios

The Master's Program is organized on a semester-based system with a flexible curriculum. Program activities are expressed in credits.

Students must complete a total of 90 credits. Required and elective courses will be determined by mutual agreement between the student and their advisor, who will guide them according to the program requirements and their thesis proposal. 

Class Schedule and Format

  • Blended Learning Format.
  • In-person and hybrid group classes: Mondays and Tuesdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
  • Individual and remote classes: Scheduled by agreement between students and professors.
  • Elective courses: Scheduled each semester.
  • *Schedules may be subject to change each semester, at the discretion of the Graduate School and the Academic Committee.

  • You must be in possession of an academic or professional degree of a musical career. Additionally you must complete the requirements of the application platform.

  • Presenting five original musical scores which, from an stylistic perspective, show the relation with contemporary music of written tradition
  • Presenting at least one preliminary thesis draft
  • Approving a relevant musical knowledge and aptitudes test to develop thesis draft
  • Demonstrating ability to interpret a musical instrument
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Spanish language

Required documentation

  • Presenting five original musical scores which, from an stylistic perspective, that show the relation with contemporary music of written tradition
  • Presenting at least one preliminary thesis draft
  • Additionally you must complete the requirements of the application platform
  • Health insurance declaration (international students)
  • These documents can be presented in Spanish, English or French properly legalised according Apostille of the Hague.
