Master in Theory and History of Art

The Master's Program in Art Theory and History is a humanities-based program whose general objective is to contribute to the development of studies and research in Art History, Aesthetics and Art Theory, and Art Studies in general. It seeks to develop research skills in these disciplinary fields through training that promotes diverse methodological, theoretical, historiographical, and critical perspectives. It fosters the integration of various disciplines in theoretical reflection aimed at understanding the artistic phenomenon in its historical development and its contemporary condition.
Graduates of the Master's Program in Art Theory and History will possess advanced knowledge in the disciplinary areas covered by the program. They will master the issues, approaches, and topics specific to this field of study, with reflective capacity, methodological competencies, and analytical skills that will allow them to conduct disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and to integrate into academic and professional teams in the areas of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

Plan de estudios
The program has an evening schedule and a flexible curriculum, with semester-based curricular activities and is expressed in class hours and a credit system. It is an in-person program, therefore attendance is mandatory.
The curriculum comprises a set of courses grouped into two complementary areas of specialization: Art History and Aesthetics and Art Theory. Both areas consist of courses within the field and other interdisciplinary courses that support the methodological and thematic focus of the two main areas.
To obtain the degree, each Master's candidate must complete 104 credits, each of which represents 27 hours of student work. The maximum duration of the Master's program is three years, including the thesis work.
Each academic semester comprises 16 weeks, distributed among classes and other regular educational activities (student research colloquia, which are mandatory, and seminars led by visiting professors).
Requisitos de admisión
- You must be in possession of an academic or professional degree with a minimum of 8 semesters of duration.
- The applicants will be selected according to their references.
- Additionally you must complete the requirements of the application platform.
