La pregunta más crítica para la investigación climática ya no gira en torno al problema en sí, sino a cómo facilitar los cambios transformadores necesarios para evitar alteraciones climáticas catastróficas. No obstante, abordar esta cuestión exigirá una ampliación masiva de la investigación capaz de acelerar el aprendizaje sobre dichas transformaciones. Por ello, se presentan diez principios fundamentales para orientar la investigación sobre energía y transformaciones orientada a la acción, enmarcados en el contexto de la ciencia de segundo orden.
